Project Life 2012 - off the ground and running!

i'm a woman on a mission to get this project off and running and i'm happy to say it's off the ground sprinting to a well-documented 2012! Such a breakthrough for me since I've been documenting our lives in haphazzard ways since i began scrapbooking. My husband was even interested in knowing what I've been up to this week and what exactly is PROJECT LIFE? He thinks it's pretty cool. now THAT'S cool when your husband takes interest in your passion.

The general concept for my slight variation (and abridged version) of Project Life is to gather photos for the week and create a collage to print out on one letter-size sheet. The facing inserts will include journaling on mailing tags, featured photos in 4x6 sizes and other stuff gathered through the week. These filler pages will be generally letter-size (I have filler pages in different sizes that I've collected over the years from different vendors and places that I have no clue where they came from tbh.) I intend to use the inserts throughout my album inbetween the 12x12 pages that will feature the collaged photo page. Week 1 12x12 faces Week 2 12x12 and the smaller sized inserts inbetween will house all the other memos and journaling etc for the week, back to back. Here are more pics of Week 1 an 2. It's a work in process, but I've laid down the basic concepts so the rest is just icing on the cake. I love this project! It's so Do-able for me and I'm truly enjoying the process.

San Francisco in hindsight

 

MLK - no lab class tonight which affords me the opportunity to play with PS and combine traditional scrapbooking with digital overlays. I recently created an on-line photojournal of our weekend getaway to San Francisco last summer. I posted a photo slide-show and will upload scrapbooking/digital pages on a regular basis.

a Week in the liFe... a work in progress

I'm taking a different spin on Ali Edward's Week in the Life Project. I took various photos which portray scenes from our lives right now and grouping them by cattegory. Part of my daily routine right now is caring for our garden.... Just a simple layout that I intend to follow for each my cattegories. I am using an artist's wirebound field book to give it a very "journal" type feel.

...finally finished a layout I started a few weeks ago. this is my beautiful neice Ionie Faye Moi Moi who was at the time on the verge of sixteen who has since turned sixteen on July 18. i wanted to post this weeks ago for her birthday. needless to say I'm always a day late (or in this case a month late) July has come and gone.  I spent the majority of July immersed in the last Harry Potter books (4, 5 and 6 ). talk about addicting -i plowed through each one in a matter of days like a maniac. needless to say everything else in my life was pushed to the wayside. and I mean waaaaayyyyy side. i did 2 scrapbook pages and abandoned this one in midstride. i was finally motivated last week when i walked into my LSS and came across my favorite lines: 7Gypsies and Karen Russell. so i'm ready to get my creative-self back into gear. got a lot to catch up on - especially on my Art Journal. Shimelle gave us the easiest assignment ever a few weeks back: paint a page in your favorite color and jot down a few things that are on your mind. and, um, i couldn't even get that done. quite frankly what was on my mind was... absolutely nothing. ha. in retrospect i could have written that down " sometimes nothing " ... i missed quite a few weeks and I think I found my voice again. stay tuned. ...

they came to visit last month and i just went crazy with my new digital camera. i think i've got enough pics to get my scrapbooking groove back on. beach photos are my favorite!

art journal entry on Alliances. {did this one digitally} JOURNALING: John and I have been married for 16 years – (together for nearly 20) however, you might never know that we were married if you had just met either one of us and  shook our hands. You see, neither of us are wearing our wedding rings. (sigh) some time ago my wedding ring happened to get caught on something and it sort of “broke” if you will. Well, it didn’t completely break. It just snapped on the underside .  John said he would take it to the jewelers ….later I learned that he didn’t take it to the jeweler immediately. He placed it on his key chain (gently closing the gap so it wouldn’t fall off)… at the same time he placed his own ring on his key chain because it no longer fit comfortably (frankly speaking he outgrew it!) … so there they were: our two wedding rings the symbols of our love, our union, hanging on a keychain! well I’m sad to say the rings never made it to the jeweler because one day my darling husband lost his keys along with our wedding rings ... the symbols of our love lost forever.…this happened during a time when we couldn’t afford to replace our loss.  but wait, here we are. 20 years and four offspring later - still together. An alliance that remains steadfast and true. An alliance which grew into a family of six. What comes to mind is a Bible verse which reads: “the things which are seen are temporary but the things which are unseen are eternal.”A ring is merely a symbol of our union and commitment.  What really binds a marriage are the two people who make the commitment through hardship and triumphs alike.
